Taking Charge of the Future: AI, Innovation, and Unexpected Opportunities

This Thursday, I had the incredible honor of speaking at the State Bar of Georgia's Solo & Small Firm Take Charge Conference, and I am still overwhelmed by the joy, gratitude, and responsibility that comes with this opportunity.

Just a few years ago, I was sitting in the audience, listening, learning, taking notes, and being inspired by the speakers who stood on the stage before me. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that only a few years later I would be entrusted with the microphone and given the opportunity to pour into others in the same way. The responsibility felt huge, but the blessing felt even greater.

My presentation, The Intelligent Lawyer: From Overwhelmed to Optimized, was designed specifically for attorneys and focused on how technology, virtual practice models, and artificial intelligence can transform the way legal professionals operate. The goal was simple: show attorneys that they do not have to choose between professional success and personal fulfillment. Through intentional systems, automation, and the strategic use of technology, it is possible to build a practice that serves clients well while also protecting the life you are working so hard to create.

Yet as I prepared for this presentation, I realized something important: this message extends far beyond the legal profession.

Today, many entrepreneurs, consultants, coaches, and small business owners are carrying workloads that were once handled by entire departments. They are serving clients, managing operations, handling marketing, processing invoices, answering emails, and trying to have a life outside of work. The reality is that technology and AI have become great equalizers. They allow solo entrepreneurs and small teams to deliver a level of service that once required a much larger organization.

I know this firsthand.

What began as a necessity to operate efficiently evolved into a complete reimagining of how a modern business can function. Through cloud-based systems, virtual offices, online collaboration platforms, client portals, and AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, I have learned that technology is not about replacing people. It is about empowering people. It is about creating systems that allow us to work smarter, serve better, and focus our energy on the areas where we provide the greatest value. [

For me, AI has become less of a tool and more of a strategic partner. It assists with drafting, proofreading, marketing ideas, workflow development, and countless other tasks that would otherwise consume valuable hours. The result is not less human connection, but more. By reducing administrative burdens, technology creates space for deeper client relationships, better service, and greater innovation.

As I stood before this audience, I reflected on just how quickly life can change when preparation meets opportunity. A few years ago, I was absorbing knowledge from the conference stage. This year, I was contributing to it. That transition is not something I take lightly.

I am deeply grateful to the conference organizers for believing in me and entrusting me with this platform. I am thankful for every mentor, colleague, client, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Most importantly, I am thankful to God for opening doors that I never could have opened myself.

The experience reminded me that growth often happens quietly. We do the work when no one is watching. We build, learn, fail, adjust, and continue moving forward. Then one day, we find ourselves standing in places we once only dreamed of reaching.

If there is one message I hope attendees carried away from my presentation, it is this:

• Do not be afraid to embrace technology.

• Do not be afraid to build differently.

• Do not be afraid to challenge traditional models if doing so allows you to better serve your clients and live the life you envision for yourself.

  
  

Whether you are an attorney, entrepreneur, or business owner, the future belongs to those who are willing to adapt, innovate, and leverage every tool available to create meaningful impact.

And sometimes, the opportunity you've been praying for is closer than you think.

One year ago, I was in the audience.

This year, I was on the stage.
